5 ways to wear a corset top in 2022

From the runway to TikTok reels, the corset top is already this year’s style of choice. And while it may have found its roots in bridal, that doesn’t mean street-style stars are waiting until their wedding days to don the curve-hugging design.
According to Stylight data, shoppers are already clicking on corsets and bustiers 225 percent more than last year. If you want to get in on the influencer-approved trend, here are five cool ways to style a corset top.
1. With a leather jacket
While the bustier top is historically feminine, the leather jacket has roots in anything but. Marry the masculine-feminine looks this season and style your bustier with a leather jacket and combat boots if you want to take your girly look up a notch.
2. Over a dress
If there’s one thing Copenhagen Fashion Week never fails to provide, it’s unique outfit inspiration. For a chic way to style your corset top that’s spring/summer-friendly (and dare we say — work appropriate?), take a page out of this guest’s book and wear your fitted top over a long-sleeve dress.
3. With a denim skirt
While influencer Ketevan Giorgadze styled her bustier-inspired blouse with a blue denim midi skirt, the look may be nearing too close to Bridgerton territory for some. A simple fix? Swap the maxi for a mini skirt, and you’ve got yourself a cute look for summer.
4. Colourblock
Honestly, we could not be any more obsessed with this cobalt blue-spring green colourblocking than we already are. Pairing her green pants and top with a blue jacket and orange heels, this Paris Fashion Week has earned our official outfit-crush award.
5. White-on-white
If you consider the corset top on its own too-bold of a look for everyday life, influencer Alice Barbier has a great workaround. Rather than leaving the cleavage-baring top to its own devices, layer it with a white blouse or blazer and matching pair of white pants for an edgy ‘could still wear in the Hamptons’ look.
